A message from Cheri Brittain, VP Volunteers:
Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I relocated to London in 1999 for work, and today proudly hold dual citizenship in both the U.S.A. and the U.K. I have been an enthusiastic member of AWBS for the past eight years, immersing myself in—and often leading—two of my favourite activities: Country Walks and “Booked for Lunch” (the lunchtime bookclub gatherings).
My husband Brian and I make our home in Windsor, while our son is currently studying at the University of Sheffield, making family, exploration, and education treasured parts of our lives.
About AWBS & My Role
Since its founding in 1981, AWBS has grown from a small circle of American expat women to a vibrant international community of 250+ women from over 45 nationalities, united by a shared passion for friendship, learning, and support. Today, AWBS embodies a culture of dynamic, intelligent, and fun-loving women who connect over diverse activities—from Country Walks and London tours to bridge, crafting, sports, history, and philanthropy.
As VP Volunteers & Nominations, my mission is to empower and celebrate the extraordinary volunteer spirit that defines AWBS. I work to:
A Personal Commitment to Community
As someone who cherishes Cross-cultural connection, I bring both American roots and UK experience to my leadership—understanding what newcomers and long-standing members alike value in community life. Whether you're joining your first book-club lunch, stepping up as an activity leader, or attending your inaugural General Meeting, I’m here to help you find your space in AWBS and shine.
If you’re curious about volunteering, nominations, or simply want to talk about a book pick, I'd love to connect!
Cheri
