AWBS International Women's Club

Philanthropy

AWBS members care about the communities in which they live, and have looked to AWBS to find ways to locally give back while living in England. For the next two years, and as a result of an AWBS volunteer-led selection process this past spring, AWBS will be supporting 3 incredible charities:

Aik Saith (Together As One)

This Queen’s award-winning charity, located in Slough, works with people from all communities, faiths and backgrounds to promote and encourage a safer, more cohesive future, through peer-led training, youth work and projects. http://www.aiksaath.com

Peterson’s Fund For Children

This ever-growing local charity in Surrey is dedicated to improving and enhancing the lives of children with severe mental / physical disabilities. In existence for just over 10 years and through extensive fundraising efforts, Peterson’s Fund For Children have provided funding for a variety of therapies, specialised equipment and much needed respite care otherwise unavailable on the NHS. http://www.petersonsfundforchildren.org

Thorpe Lea Primary School (TPA)

This primary school and nursery, serving children aged 2-11 and located in Thorpe Lea, Egham, is supported by its parent association, which has charitable status. The TPA and school work together to make Thorpe Lea Primary School a safe, happy place where children can reach their potential. The Thorpe Lea Primary School (TPA) undertake community fundraising events and initiatives to supplement much needed programs and items. https://www.thorpe-lea.surrey.sch.uk

Members support through attending AWBS special events, patronizing our Best of Britain vendor stalls & holiday fayres, and partaking in activities like Clear Your Closet for Charity and Your Inner Artist, ALL contribute to raising funds for our charities.

We are now working with these charities to develop volunteer opportunities. Please read the newsletter each month and watch your emails for AWBS-sponsored volunteering event. Volunteering is a great way to meet people and explore your new community. No matter how much time or experience you have, you can make a difference.

AWBS has a long tradition of supporting local charities and in the past two years has donated over £20,000 to the following charities:

Your Sanctuary
Bracknell and District Parkinson’s
The Clubhouse Project
Support 19
