Happy 2018 from everyone here at the AWBS!
Each New Year brings with it the idea of new beginnings and, accordingly, resolutions to be made (and broken). With the New Year, memories of holiday parties, vacations, champagne corks popping and fireworks give way to the reality of our daily lives.
If you are like us, you have no doubt made a resolution to be kinder and more patient in the New Year, to achieve personal goals of self-improvement, and to spend more time with those that we love and cherish. As a wise person once said, New Years resolutions are like promises to ourselves to do better in the coming year.
As the Club starts 2018 with new leadership, we hope to continue the AWBS' long history of welcoming newcomers and helping them to settle into their new home here in the UK. We are a very friendly club and offer many activities, from Mahjong to Potluck lunches and Morning coffees to Special events and Philanthropy, that will keep you more than busy! Please don't hesitate to become involved in all our varied activities and to attend our monthly General Meetings.
We are starting the year off with a bang as we move to a special venue--Ascot Racecourse--for our January General Meeting.
In keeping with our January theme of change and improvement we have a truly inspirational woman--Roz Savage-- as a speaker at our January meeting. Roz is the first (and so far only) woman to row solo across the world’s “Big Three” oceans: Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian. She holds four Guinness World Records, and was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to fundraising and the environment. She is the embodiment of courage, resilience, and change and we both very much look forward to her talk.
We can't wait to see you at our Meeting at Ascot Racecourse!
